Cool Record Edit Pro pomaga w przechwytywaniu strumieni audio z takich źródeł jak kasety magnetofonowe, mikrofon, radio Internetowe, TV, DVD i zapisywaniu ich do formatu MP3, WAV, WMA na dysku komputera. Nie jest to jednak główna funkcjonalność aplikacji. Cool Record Edit Pro służy przede wszystkim do edycji (wycinanie, wklejanie fragmentów dźwięków itp.) i wykonywania różnych efektów na ścieżkach audio. Do najciekawszych należy zaliczyć możliwość tworzenia echa, wibracji, opóźnień, wyciszeń, zniekształceń czy chórów. Dodatkowo program posiada wbudowane narzędzie pozwalające na konwertowanie różnych formatów audio pomiędzy sobą (WAV do MP3, MP3 do WAV, OGG do WAV/MP3 itp.) oraz funkcję CD Ripper, dzięki której można zgrać ścieżki audio z płyty CD do plików MP3, WMA, OGG, i WAV. Cool Record Edit helps you transfer tapes, LPs, live performances, Internet radio, TV, DVD, or any other sound source to your hard drive. The software helps protect your valuable recordings--just set the sound source, the recording quality, and volume, then start recording.
The Editor allows you to perform various operations with audio data such as displaying a waveform image of an audio file, filtering, applying various audio effects and more. It includes a click and crackle filter for cleaning vinyl records, a noise filter for cassette-tape recordings, and an equalizer to enhance the sound quality of all recordings.
